Newspaper clipping, with the handwritten date of Jan. 25, 1935, presumably it's from the Atchison Globe newspaper: The tragic death of Mrs. Jessie Bereman Searle, fortherly of Atchison, occurred last week near Valier, Mont., where Mrs. Searle and her family lived. The Great Falls (Montana) Tribune of January 19 gives the account of Mrs. Searle's death as follows: \"A victim of the current frigid weather in Montana is Mrs. B. L. Searle, 60, stenographer for the Valier Land & Water Co., who was found frozen to death within 150 feet of her farm home near this city Saturday morning. Mrs. Searle left her home four miles east of Valier to drive her car to the land company office. About a mile and a half from the farm on the Valier-Conrad road, the car stalled in snow and Mrs. Searle attempted to walk back home in the face of a north wind that assumed blizzard proportions. Had she tried to reach farm houses toward Valier it is thought she would have saved her life. Though she left her home at 8 o'clock Thursday morning, Mrs. Searle was not missed until 2 p. m. Friday because she was accustomed to remaining in Valier when the weather necessitated. Members of the family thought she was at Valier and those at the land company believed she was home. Searchers left Valier early Friday afternoon and members of the family found her almost within the yard of the farm home. Mrs. Searle is survived by two sons, Leonard, 32, a graduate of Montana State college, who is president of the Valier school board, and Dorman, 29, a graduate of the state university at Missoula and a Seattle lawyer.\" She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. S. 0. Bereman, and two sisters, Miss Theona and Miss Fay Bereman, all of St. Louis. The Bereman family lived in Atchison for many years. S. 0. Bereman was a leading druggist here, and died a number of years ago. Miss Theona Bereman was bookkeeper at The Globe office, resigning the position to go with her mother and sisters to St. Louis. Mrs. Bert Weber, who visited in Valier, Mont., a number of years ago, says the Searle family had a beautiful irrigated farm there, and Mrs. Searle herself was a notable success as a farmer as well as being a very successful business woman. Atchison people remember her as a particularly capable, bright and charming woman.
