Note | Transcriptions of newspaper clippings concerning the death of S. O. Bereman:
The Kansas Workman, official organ of the A. O. U. W. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Order_of_United_Workmen), published at Minneapolis, Kansas, has the following tribute to the late S. O. Bereman. “The news of the death of Brother Bereman, financier of No. 4, Atchison, causes us sorrow. During a period of seventeen years that we have known him he has always been the same even tempered, pleasant, courteous, and attentive gentleman - a model officer and a lovable brother.
Had it not been for his fatal illness which terminated yesterday, S. O. Bereman would have undoubtedly been the nominee of the Republicans for county treasurer. He announced his candidacy, but his illness took him out of the race.
The funeral of S. O. Bereman was the most imposing, in a military way, that has occurred in Atchison since the death of John A. Martin. |
